Gor Mahia denied CAFCL spot

Gor Mahia will not compete in the 2023–24 CAF Champions League after the Kenyan Football Federation (FKF) rejected their application for a club license prior to Tuesday's draw.

After defeating Tusker by a single point on the final day of the season to win the Kenyan Premier League for a record 20th time, K'Ogalo was scheduled to participate in the qualification rounds of Africa's premier club competition.

The Nairobi Giants, however, violated FIFA and CAF regulations by failing to make payments to three of its former players, Sando Yangayay, Jules Ulimwengu, and Adama Keita, who then complained to the organization overseeing international football. However, the Kenyan champions missed the deadline last Thursday and are therefore unable to represent their nation on the continental stage in accordance with FIFA and CAF regulations.Though their proposal came too late, the FKF had hoped that the Brewers would take the place of their regional opponents in the CAF Champions League.

"It had to happen. The Federation made numerous attempts to prevent it, but Gor ignored them, an FKF source informed Capital Sport.

They received several reminders, and even the Federation requested that CAF give them some further time.
